Barack Obama Pushes S.C. Voters To Vote For Jaime Harrison In New Ad

“Hey, South Carolina. If you want a senator who will fight for criminal justice reform, lower college costs, and make health care affordable, you’ve got to vote for my friend Jaime Harrison,” Obama says in the 30-second-long video tweeted by Harrison.

“This year, you can vote early, or you can vote on Election Day, Nov. 3,” the former president continues. “Early voting is happening right now. Go to iwillvote.com to find your early vote location. Make your plan and vote for Jaime today.”

Obama has stepped out into the public light over the last few months to issue similar calls for voters across the country to cast their ballots early in support of Democratic candidates. Last week, Obama was featured in an ad for the Democratic National Committee and even former first lady Michelle Obama has come out in support of Joe Biden.

The former president will also be hitting the campaign trail for Biden in the final weeks before Election Day beginning with a visit to Philadelphia Wednesday.

Jaime Harrison was initially not expected to challenge Lindsey Graham for his seat, but after the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and Graham’s support of Supreme Court Justice nominee Amy Coney Barrett, Harrison’s campaign has received a flood of money and small donations from individuals and Democratic organizations.

Harrison has received so much money in the last three months that Graham now believes the sources of the money flowing through ActBlue and other groups need to be reviewed by policymakers.

Earlier this month, Harrison’s campaign reported raising $57 million in the third quarter this year and the Cook Political Report changed their outlook of the Senate race from “lean Republican” to a “toss up.”

Graham meanwhile, has been all but outright holding his hand out for donations. In the last month Graham has been on Fox News trying to drum up financial support and broke Senate rules by soliciting campaign funds in a federal building.
